Acceptable use

Last updated · October 11, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy describes the conduct that is required — and prohibited — when using HomeworkGrader. We keep it short and common-sense: don't break the law, don't endanger anyone, and don't try to break the Service.

Scope

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to everyone who uses HomeworkGrader (the "Service"). It is incorporated into our Terms of Service by reference. Violation of this AUP is a violation of those Terms.

General conduct

You may not use the Service to:

  • Violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.
  • Upload or share content that infringes intellectual-property rights, including copyrighted material you do not have permission to use.
  • Upload or share content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, threatening, hateful, or that promotes violence or discrimination.
  • Upload or share sexual content involving minors, or any content that exploits or endangers children.
  • Submit personal or sensitive information of others without a lawful basis to do so, including any consents required for student records.
  • Misrepresent your identity, authority, or affiliation.

Student data

If you upload student work, you are responsible for ensuring that your upload complies with your school or district's policies, applicable parental-consent requirements, and any other obligations under FERPA or similar laws. Do not upload student information beyond what is necessary for grading.

Security and integrity

You may not:

  • Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service or any related system or network without our prior written authorization.
  • Breach or otherwise circumvent any security or authentication measures.
  • Access, tamper with, or use non-public areas of the Service or related systems.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the Service, including by means of denial-of-service attacks or by overwhelming infrastructure with requests.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
  • Use any robot, spider, scraper, or other automated means to access the Service for any purpose without our prior written permission.

Authorized security research is welcome. To report a vulnerability, contact support@homeworkgrader.com.

Misuse of output

You may not:

  • Hold the Service out as infallible, or represent that grading output is final without educator review.
  • Use the Service to generate or distribute material that misleads about its source or accuracy.
  • Use grading output to make consequential decisions about a student without independent review by a qualified educator.

Fair use of capacity

We provide the Service to a community of educators, and we reserve the right to apply reasonable rate limits or to suspend usage that materially degrades the Service for others, even if no other provision of this AUP is violated.

Reporting and enforcement

To report a violation of this AUP, including content you believe should be removed, contact support@homeworkgrader.com.

We may, in our sole discretion and without prior notice, remove or refuse to process content, suspend or terminate access to the Service, and take any other action we believe is appropriate to address a violation of this AUP, including cooperation with law enforcement.

Changes to this policy

We may update this AUP from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when this AUP was most recently revised. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes your acceptance of the revised AUP.
